Method came to me with the brief to create an immersive installation piece to be housed on digital screens in branches and above ATMs across Aotearoa. The idea was to create a city scene which also showcased BNZ’s initiatives within the community.
Due to the scale of some of the screens we wanted to ensure the scene felt interesting enough, so that when you’re waiting in the bank you can discover all sorts of delightful moments within the piece.
We created a series of buildings including the iconic BNZ building in Wellington CBD. As well as a variety of buildings to showcase industry, innovation, and housing. We also created a variety of characters for the scene, including bank staff. The work also includes the Te Whai A Titipa mural by Derek Lardell.
The Method team then developed animation loops throughout the scene, which activate between still states. Giving the feeling that the artwork is spontaneously coming to life.
